Durgadas Cherukaraveedu was born in Kannur (Eramam), Kerala, India. He obtained his Bachelor of Science (2005) and Master of Science degrees (2007) in Chemistry from Kannur University, India. Later he started PhD research at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum India and received the PhD degree in 2015 under the supervision of Dr. K Sreenivasan and Dr. Chandra P. Sharma. During the doctoral studies he was awarded many research fellowships like Lady Tata memorial scholarship in science, CSIR, and conference Travel award from DST (Govt. of India) to attend conference in USA (2011). He was a Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral research Fellow (August 2012- May 2013) at Prof. Andrew D. Ellington lab, Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology, University of Texas at Austin, USA. In 2015 he was awarded the Dr. D. S Kothari post doctoral Fellowship (University Grant Commission-India), to conduct research studies at Department of Organic Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science (IISc). At IISc under the supervision of Prof. Santanau Bhattacharya he was synthesizing cationic lipid- drug conjugates for anticancer drug delivery. Since December 2015, he started working in Bradley research group as Marie-Curie International Incoming Fellow and is currently working on transition metal mediated chemistry in cells.
In his spare time, Durgadas enjoys spending time with family, swimming, travel, playing cricket and badminton, watching movies, and cooking.
