James Crossland

Originally from Hertfordshire, UK, he achieved a first-class honours in his integrated Master of Chemistry (MChem) degree from The University of York in 2017. In his final year, he interned in the Process Chemistry department of Bayer AG, Frankfurt, developing the synthesis of agrochemicals under the guidance of Dr Daniel Gallenkamp and Dr Andreas Rembiak. Following the completion of his degree he spent a year as a PhD candidate under Prof Michael Turner at the University of Manchester working on the degradation reactions of high-performance polymers. He then moved to Edinburgh in September 2019 to join the Bradley group working on the development of cost efficient bacterial detection systems.
